Banking service chronicle published this article page no 4 the central government has approved a four percent increase in dearness allowance for central government employees and pensioners bringing the total to 42 per cent of the basic pay. this move will benefit over 47 lakh central government employees and more than 69 lakh pensioners. the decision was announced by information and broadcasting minister anurag singh thakur after a cabinet meeting in new delhi on 24th march 2023. the increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief will result in a combined impact of over 12 thousand 815 crore rupees per annum on the exchequer. the decision is in line with the accepted formula based on the recommendations of the 7th central pay commission banking services chronicle monthly magazine.
